L'Enigme des Nascas
Since their discovery in 1926 in Peru, the geoglyphs, gigantic patterns cut in the earth and sometimes miles long, continue to intrigue explorers and archeologists. The meaning of these line patterns in the landscape remains unknown. After having long attributed them to the Incas, we now know that they were carved out, long before, by a people called the Nascas. To penetrate the mysteries of this little-known civilization, the Italian archeologist Giuseppe Orefici began a major excavation in the fall of 1998, on the vast site of Cahuachi, the religious capital of the Nascas, discovered only a few years ago. As he accumulates the clues, Giuseppe Orefici suggests a new interpretation of the Nascas patterns....
