All begins calmly - "tranquillo", as the score says. Like a late afternoon in the country. In his room, we see a child who could have stepped straight out of a poem by Jacques Prévert: "I don't want to..." As a punishment, his mother puts him on bread and water and shuts him in his room. Left to himself, the Child goes into a destructive frenzy, attacking everything around him making his toys and furniture suffer. Then his victims come alive...
