This documentary series chronicles the history and destiny of the Balkan nations, from the 6th century to the present day: the Slavic invasion of the Balkans, the founding of the first and second Bulgarian state, the presence of the southern Slavs (Serbs, Croatians, Slovenians), the Romanians from the time of the Getodakans until the formation of a unified, independent state, the history of the Albanians and the Turks. Special chapters cover religion, civilization and local customs. The commentary was written by professors from the University of Thessalonia. Professors and politicians from most of the Balkan countries were invited to take part in preparing this series.
