A Couple of Things About Hubert Selby Jr. is the only film to date about the American writer. A debut documentary by Ludovic Cantais, this unique portrait is built around a reading at the Moondog Café in Los Angeles in September 1998. Selby talks about his childhood, his discovery of writing, his work methods, his obsessions, his failures and his recent spiritual quest. Selby's manner is ironic, without any trace of self-satisfaction. Instead, he tends to look back on his life with amusement.
