Getting to Our Place
In 1988, the New Zealand Government agreed to fund a new National Museum, Te Papa. The film documents over three years the putting together of this entirely new national institution. It follows three key people who were crucial to the realization of this project. As exhibition teams push their concept ideas to management, and management battles with the Board, and the Board battles with the Ministry, these three fight on under very difficult and sometimes bizarre circumstances. Getting to Our Place, a compelling fly-on-the-wall behind closed doors account of the remarkably bumpy journey to Te Papa.
