The Road to Death is the story of those who never managed to flee Kosovo: those who remained fugitives inside Kosovo throughout war. It depicts events on a 30-kilometre-long road in the mountains northeast of Pristina, a road along which over 100,000 people fled, and where they were forced to live under extremely difficult conditions, while under attack by Yugoslavian forces. That road came to symbolize the war.
