Unchanged because of the torpor of the Soviet system and its provincial status, Saint Petersburg saw its city center undergo few radical transformations. But one can sense the distress hidden by the beautifully colored facades: a third of the families live in communal apartments, empty buildings are invaded by squatters. Sleeping Beauty awoke to a harsh reality. This sudden, new freedom has not filled stores or bank accounts, only encouraged trafficking. Despite their limited resources, the police try to cope. This film is a portrait of four policemen and their intimate relationship with their city. Through their daily lives, a city is revealed.
