David Cronenberg
The film consecrated to David Cronenberg was shot in Toronto in January 1999. Every day for one week, Cronenberg answered Serge Grünberg's questions. Each of these interviews lasted from two to two and a half hours. The shoot took place in a room laid out in a triangle whose three points were occupied by Cronenberg, Serge Grünberg, and two TV monitors constantly playing Cronenberg's films. Thus, at each instant, the camera - set up on a dolly - could move from one face to the other or seek out on the monitors the excerpt of film most appropriate to the exchange. The film carries, as a subtitle, a phrase pronounced by Cronenberg during the shooting, that could be taken for his profession of faith: "I have to make the word be flesh".
