Corée du Nord : témoins en fuite

In the space of three years, famine claimed some three million lives in North Korea, according to humanitarian and South Korean sources. Naturally, the world's last Stalinist regime would allow no cameras in to film this catastrophe. But from the testimonies of those who managed to flee the country, and the few images shot in North Korea, we gradually get a picture of a humanitarian disaster all the more horrifying for it being kept out of our field of vision. The refugees managed to cross the border into China in the north of the country, a zone closely watched from both sides. Along the border river, a camera crew managed to film the North Korean surveillance system and the clandestine activity between the two Koreas. Most of all, they were able to meet refugees who, often after several attempts to avoid checkpoints, were able to hide and bear witness to the tragedy that forced them to flee.
