The film retraces the history of the old "House of the People," one of the largest buildings in the world. It was constructed by the Romanian dictator Ceausescu and covers a large section of Bucharest's historical town center. Surrounded by dark legends, the "Great House" is today the seat of the Romanian Parliament, and has numerous convention halls and exhibition sites.
