Aux Trois Relais
Bernard, the chef, and his staff of 20 run the self-service restaurant "Aux Trois Relais" with brisk efficiency. They prepare some 500 meals a day. At first glance, it looks like just one more healthy undertaking, complete with its hierarchy, its acts of meanness and its banter. But we are in the Cooking Workshop of the Aid Through Work Center and the personnel are all mentally handicapped. An unprecedented experiment, a hell of a team fired by the desire to do it right and keep smiling. And on top of that, it's good food! How do these handicapped workers function in the "ordinary" world? Manu, Christa, Sophie and their colleagues talk about their being different with almost unbearable lucidity. Are they as slow as people say? The film adopts a lighthearted tone. There's no need to get dramatic about it: it's our recognition they're looking for, not our pity.
