Ao sul da paisagem
"We shall leave our bodies behind on this disfigured land but our word we shall take with us up to the firmament. We must cross the great water, Tupã will guide us." The prophetic tone of this phrase of an old Guarani Indian, a wise Pajé who lived on the border of Brazil with Paraguay, on the banks of the river Paraná in 1965, reenacts the myth of the inaugural flood that flows out into the history of the Avá-Guarani. Jacutinga disappeared under the waters that inundated their land following the construction of the dam for the Itaipu hydroelectric power station.
