Ali Farka Touré
From the electric guitar to small one-string violin of the songhay peasants, the art of Ali Farka Touré takes many forms. A highly mobile camera follows the first Grammy-award-winning African musician. From concerts in Bamako to possession rites dedicated to the "spirits of the river", not to mention the Tuareg camps and the mysterious city of Timbuktu, the film, narrated by Ali himself, is a portrait of both the magnificent region of the Niger loop and an outstanding man, who combines a career as international musician and activities as a farmer in his village.
