A Cenzor

This is the second episode of a series, based on Sándor Török's novel "Someone's Knocking". The series dramatizes the young writer's life in Budapest in the 1920s and his experiences in different lodgings. In this episode, he moves into a room in the home of the Brezovszky family. The room is quite shabby, but he can't afford anything better on his writer's income. Family life here is not very harmonious either, quarrels are frequent. The head of the family, a widow, tries to make peace but it is a difficult task. Ottó is the mysterious member of the family. He is a retired censor who lives a solitary life withdrawn in his room. Though he is grumpy with everyone, he confides in the writer. They start to work together on a project, spending more and more time in each other's company. A friendship develops between them, but neither suspects the fatal consequences it will have…
