25 jours avant "Jules César"

25 Days Before "Julius Caesar"

March 1999. Rehearsals of "Julius Caesar", by George Frideric Handel directed by Willy Decker and conducted by Christophe Rousset, in Montpellier. The film follows the preparation of the opera and the conductor's work with the orchestra he has formed, Les Talens Lyriques, and an international cast : Sara Mingardo, Laura Polverelli, Brigitte Balleys, Laura Claycomb, Hilary Summers, Roberto Scaltriti et Robert Expert. Free of hackneyed images of ladies in evening gowns and gentlemen in bow ties, this film is about the joy of music and the pleasure of working together. Handel's music comes to life through the work of one of the most brillant conductors of his generation.
