In the course of the past five years, more than 3,000 persons have died anonymously, and most often lonely. All risked their lives to find work in the United States. They came not from Mexico but from Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Colombia, Ecuador, 4,300 miles south of the US. Their hell began as soon as they left their native soil. This is the day-by-day account of one Ecuadorian family and their months' long attempt to find their American Dream - their underground travels, failures, successes and finally their realization of what this exile has cost them. This film is not only about the story of migrants, but of those who make up contemporary American society.
